STUDENTS ENCOURAGED TO APPLY FOR SEED SMART SCHOLARSHIP

Alberta Seed Processors is encouraging students enrolled in agriculture-related studies to apply for one of two, $1,000 scholarships.

“The Seed Smart scholarship will go to students who demonstrate leadership in their communities”, said Tom Coppock, Alberta Seed Processors’ (ASP) president.

“We want to reward young people who are inspired to make a difference in agriculture, and help make their road to success a bit easier.”

ASP is a network of seed and grain processing professionals, focused on providing Alberta farmers, seed growers and the agriculture industry with value-added services to support the growth of the agriculture economy.

Each year ASP awards two, $1,000 scholarships to deserving applicants. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in a full-time, agriculture-related program at an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada – with preference given to those studying in Alberta. Preference is also given to students in their second year of studies, as many first year students have the ability to apply for entrance scholarships and students in their second or further year of study have generally made more financial commitments to their education.

“Our board of directors created this scholarship fund because our members believe in giving back to the province and community that has been so good to us,” Coppock says.

“We are excited to see what this the next generation of bright young minds has to offer.”

The deadline for this year’s award is October 15, 2020. The application form and further instructions for potential candidates are available at www.seedprocessors.ca.
